HL7 keeps some information private!

\Committee-defined semantic models in XML are maintained by the Control/Query Committee. Notable among these are the specification for Version 3 data types, and the specification for Version 3 XML ITS for data types. In this circumstance, the committee maintains a semantic definition of the topic in an XML file whose schema and/or DTD are known only to the committee.

The XML schema referred to in this posting is the schema used exclusively in the publication process used to generate the HL7 HTML documentation. It contains no semantic definitions whatsoever, it's just a structure for paragrpahs/lists/sections etc.

The format is defined and mainatianed by the HL7 publication committee, and is available to all that publish HL7 content. I'm sure thyat anybody who cares to ask them can get a copy - althought it would be utterly useless, given that it is just publication related, and does .e.g. not define datatypes in a structured software-processable manner.

Datatypes are defined in the MIF files, which are avialble to any HL7 member, as is the XML Schema for those MIF files.

By the way: the CQ committee changed its name to InM about 2 years ago..
